Ascendera Advisory · Exclusive practice · HPO

How does your organisation perform when it counts?

The High Performance Organisation practice looks at how your organisation really performs, from the boardroom to the frontline: how leaders decide under pressure, how teams hold up under load, and whether people feel safe to speak up. Then it makes those things measurably better.

The practice

Reports tell you what happened. We look at what happens.

Most organisations know their numbers. Far fewer know how their people actually behave when the pressure is on: whether a junior engineer will challenge a wrong call, whether a night-shift team coordinates like the day-shift team, whether a leader's decision-making holds up at 3am. Those are the things that decide outcomes, and they are exactly what this practice works on.

01

Evidence before opinion

We start with your data and your people, not with a framework. Interviews, observation and your own records show how the organisation really behaves, before anything is proposed.

02

Elite-unit method, industrial setting

The methods come from human performance programmes built for special forces, where the cost of failure is absolute. They are translated, carefully, for industrial boards, control rooms and frontlines.

03

Built to be handed over

The goal is an organisation that runs the method itself. We train your own people to carry it, so the capability stays after we leave.

What it offers

Six service lines. One standard.

Each can stand alone or combine into a full human performance programme. Every engagement is scoped on evidence and led by the practice lead personally.

Leadership under pressure
Assessment and development of how your leaders actually decide when it counts: under time pressure, incomplete information and real consequence. Not classroom theory; observed, coached and rehearsed.
Team performance and trust
How teams coordinate, communicate and hold up under load. The same crew discipline that elite units drill, applied to shift teams, project crews and control rooms.
Speak-up culture
Whether bad news travels in your organisation, and how fast. Diagnostics show where people stay silent and why; interventions make speaking up normal, safe and expected.
Decision-making under threat
The practice lead's doctoral specialty. Training and realistic rehearsal for the moments when decisions are hardest, so the first time your people face one is not the real one.
Human performance programme design
The complete build: assessment, curriculum, delivery and measurement, designed for your organisation and handed over to your own people to run.
Board to frontline alignment
One performance standard read at every level, so what the board believes about the organisation matches what the frontline experiences.
Daniel Cooper PhD, Practice Lead, High Performance Organisation

The practice lead · Exclusive partnership

Led by someone who has done the work.

Dr Daniel Cooper spent twenty-two years in the Australian Army, most of them in the Special Air Service Regiment. He joined as an infantryman and deployed to East Timor in 1999, passed SASR selection in 2001, and went straight onto the second rotation into Afghanistan in 2002. Over the following fourteen years he conducted dozens of operations across Afghanistan and beyond, serving in all three of the regiment's Sabre Squadrons and its Operations Support Squadron.

In 2008, from inside the regiment, Daniel started what grew into the SASR Human Performance Program. It became the foundation on which Australia's Special Operations Command and the wider Army built their own human performance systems. Alongside his operational role he studied: an undergraduate degree in sports science, a double masters in strength and conditioning, and research into cognitive and physiological performance.

After leaving the regiment, Daniel spent two years with the Queensland Reds high performance program, then took up a full research scholarship at Macquarie University. His PhD examined the human factors that improve the transfer of training into performance in high threat combat environments, and his published research on decision-making and marksmanship under pressure is cited internationally. He still tests his own methods on himself: the 750km Yukon Arctic Ultra on foot, the 550km and 1600km Iditarod Trail Invitationals, and multi-day desert ultras.

Daniel works with Ascendera under an exclusive partnership. In the Kingdom, he works only with our clients, on our engagements, and he leads them personally. When he tells you how leaders and teams behave under real pressure, it is because he has lived it, measured it and researched it.

From the boardroom to the frontline, the standard is the one he set for his own teams.

How an engagement runs

The Ascendera model, applied to people.

01

Start with your data

Your records, your incident history, your organisation chart and your people, read before any recommendation. The route comes from your reality, not from a template.

02

Scoped on evidence

We price on value and scope on what the evidence shows. If a small change will do it, we say so. If the problem is structural, you see exactly why.

03

Delivered, then handed over

The practice lead delivers with you and your teams, then trains your own people to run the method. Success is an organisation that no longer needs us.
